State Bank of India’s second-quarter standalone net profit is expected to benefit from healthy growth in net interest income and other income, driven by stake-sale gains from share sales in SBI Mutual Fund and NSE.
Consensus estimates by broking firms suggest that India’s largest bank could post about a 45 per cent year-on-year (yoy) increase in net profit, with profitability estimates ranging from 16.6 per cent to 50.5 per cent. The Bank will declare its results later today.
Motilal Oswal expects 50.5 per cent profit growth
Motilal Oswal Financial Services, in a report, said it expects a 50.5 per cent yoy increase in the net profit of India’s largest bank to ₹25,250 crore, supported by robust business growth, partly coupled with stake sale gains IN SBIMF and NSE.
The firm pegged SBI’s Net Interest Income growth at 11.3 per cent yoy to ₹47,847 crore. It projected advances growth of 18.9 per cent (13.1 per cent in Q1FY26) and deposit growth of 12.1 per cent (9.3 per cent). However, Net Interest Margin (NIM) could be lower at 2.83 per cent, down 14 basis points, against 2.97 per cent a year ago.
Systematix estimates 16.6 per cent profit growth
Systematix Shares and Stocks (India) Ltd expects SBI to post a 16.6 per cent yoy increase in net profit at ₹23,539 crore.
NII is expected to grow 9.6 per cent yoy to ₹47,122 crore, and other income is expected to rise 49 per cent yoy to ₹22,833 crore.
SBI’s total other income will benefit from a one-off gain of Rs 1,020 crore from the sale of SBIFM and NSE shares. The firm opined that the Bank could see higher credit costs as it could utilise the one-off gains to build provision buffers.
